What Causeway is
A causeway is a road built across water, anchored at both ends, carrying traffic both ways. Causeway Health is the same idea for clinical care: a standing corridor that moves specialist knowledge to the patient rather than moving the patient to the knowledge, keeps their care anchored to a home clinician on both sides of any border, and carries expertise in both directions, including surgical fellowship and training.

A patient describes their condition, shares records and imaging, and receives an assessment directly from a verified specialist, before any surgery is on the table.

Anchored episodeHow a case moves
A patient or treating clinician opens a case and chooses a specialist. Identifying details are captured and encrypted at rest, held in-country, never sent across the border.
Imaging is stripped of identifying tags and metadata. What reaches the consulting surgeon is a pseudonymous case: age, anatomy, findings, and the question being asked.
The surgeon reviews, returns a written opinion, and, where useful, meets the patient by secure video, linked to the case and coordinated by the home clinician.
A second opinion is a single event. Real care is the episode around it. Causeway keeps the patient anchored to a home clinician for the whole journey, so the specialist advises, but the patient is never handed off and lost.
That is what separates a corridor from a one-off consult, and it is what prevents the classic failure of medical travel: an opinion abroad, a procedure, and then no one who owns the complication at week six.
Consultations happen inside Causeway, so the video call, the case, the imaging, the messages and the payment are one governed workflow, not a link emailed out to a consumer app.
Surgeons propose a time; patients confirm; both get reminders and a calendar invite; the join opens at the slot.
The identity firewall
Identity and clinical data live in separate encrypted stores. The consulting surgeon's view has no path to the left-hand column, the wall is enforced in the data model, not just the interface. Cross-border routing is gated on explicit, recorded patient consent, and built to align with UAE DOH and PDPL data-handling requirements.
